Terjemahan dari prediksi diatas ialah seberapa banyak investor Amerika ingin membeli emas tergantung dari seberapa lama menurut mereka perekonomian Amerika akan terus mengalami penurunan, dan hal ini diluar kemampuan saya untuk memprediksi masa depan Amerika. Pemerintahan yang baru telah berusaha keras untuk melawan downward trend ini, tetapi tingkat keberhasilan mereka sampai saat ini belum begitu kelihatan.

HSBC said it is raising its 2009 and 2010 gold price forecasts on expectations that the faltering global economy will prompt investors to buy into the metal as a haven from risk.

HSBC memprediksi kenaikan harga emas pada tahun 2009 dan 2010 karena kondisi perekonomian global yang cenderung melemah sehingga para investor memilih emas sebagai perlindungan nilai atas harta mereka ( hedging ).

"Increasing inflation expectations, a shift toward liquid assets, a rapid increase in credit risk, falling stock markets and a wave of monetary and fiscal policies are contributing to fuel a rally in gold prices."

Meningkatnya inflasi, kredit macet, jatuhnya bursa saham, dan munculnya kebijakan-kebijakan fiscal dan moneter turut memicu kenaikan harga emas. ( Gold News: Citigroup )
